On May 9, 2019, the second APEC Senior Officials Meeting took place in the coastal city of Valparaiso, Chile. During that time, the PPSTI’s 13th meeting was concurrently conducted.The Chinese delegation was a vocal participant at the meeting, participating in the discussion of the meeting’s topics and highlighting three new projects that China had proposed. The Chinese delegation also promoted these projects to win the support of economies and incorporate China’s concerns into the PPSTI document.Among them, the project “LEGITT ” was presented in the afternoon session as one of the three new projects proposed by Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China, Ministry of Transport of the People’s Republic of China, and Chinese Academy of Science. It was also co-sponsored by Chinese Academy of Sciences Innovation Cooperation Center (Bangkok) and Council for the Promotion of International Trade Shanghai. The speech was delivered. Currently, 10 economies—including Chile, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea, Mexico, Peru, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Russia, Thailand, and Hong Kong—have responded to and co-proposed the initiative.

Innovation for Public Transportation Competition, INPUT 1 is a global event that 21 economies have agreed to participate to support technological innovation and green mobility in public transportation.China is the project’s center of operations, and co-sponsors include Chile, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.

“Intelligent-based Multi-Level Public Transport Integration Development” is the focus of the INPUT 1. INPUT 1 solicited the participation of 21 experts from seven countries, including China, the United States, Russia, Australia, Korea, Thailand, and Malaysia. The experts’ areas of expertise included railroads, urban rail transit, and urban public transportation. A total of 64 declared entries were received from nations including China, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Hong Kong, China.In a number of areas, including planning and investment management, technology innovation in construction and operation, transportation policy research, transportation modeling, new energy bus technology, rail vehicle engineering, venture capital, and technology trend analysis, the competition actively encouraged exchange between participants from various economies.

A ceremony for awards and an exchange meeting were conducted by INPUT1 on June 19 at Shanghai University of Engineering Science. More than 120 participants attended the conference in person, while more than 1,500 delegates from domestic and international locations watched the live stream online.Academician Chen Qingquan, academician Guo Wei, academician Gao Wen from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and chief advisor Nicholas Brooke from APEC Business Advisory Council were invited to the event to discuss creating a more intelligent form of transportation in the context of urbanization, globalization, and the connected age. Experts, academics, and business leaders from China Intelligent Transportation Systems Association, Shanghai Academy of Development & Reform, Haitong Securities, and other organizations were also invited.
